We had nice weather (a little foggy but warm) for our annual ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service on City Island, NY.
It is held in the Fordham Cemetery overlooking the Long Island Sound.

The shorter days mean that it is sunset even if I head out immediately after work to take a walk. Soon I will have to set out in the dark.
The light fixture in the distance is a nesting site for Monk parakeets in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, NY.
Sometimes it is prettier looking to the East than to the West.
A lone fisherman along the Long Island Sound, Pelham Bay Park.
I wonder what this four-footed friend thinks of the beauty around him.
The moon at sunset—a beautiful combination.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3, 4
The moon marks off the seasons,
and the sun knows when to go down. Psalm 104:19
I thought that these pictures that I took of a sunset while flying from Charleston, SC to LaGuardia Airport in NY looked like photos of some type of UFOs.
Rose of Sharon:
A beautiful name for a beautiful flower.
I see this Great Egret almost every evening during my walks around the neighborhood.
It is fun and calming to watch him (her?) walk through the water and occasionally catch a fish.
This cat is a frequent visitor. He stands as still as a statue and seems to have high hopes of catching something for himself.
The planes overhead don’t seem to bother him (one evening I counted 41 in a one hour walk).
But he takes off when a fisherman gets too close in the water while cooling off.
Other birds enjoy the sun and water, too.
It’s just sad to see how they all have to live among our trash.
Today we had our annual worship service at the beach (City Island, Bronx, NY). The message was based upon the Gospel of Luke (11:1-13) where the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Following the service there was a picnic and swimming. It was sunny and hot with a nice sea breeze. What a beautiful setting in which to worship God and to fellowship and enjoy God’s creation! Praise God!

On February 15, 2010 I drove over to nearby Orchard Beach in the Bronx to take pictures of the snow. The photos were taken five days after the snow of 2/10/2010. These are my favorite photos from that visit. A good example, I think, of why I love The Bronx! I hope you enjoy them!
